Security Best Practices
Recommendations for keeping your PeakDesk organization and devices secure.
Account Security
- •Enable Two-Factor Authentication (2FA)We strongly recommend all administrators enable 2FA. This adds a critical layer of security against unauthorized access.
- •Use Strong, Unique PasswordsAvoid reusing passwords from other services. Use a password manager to generate complex credentials.
- •Least Privilege AccessOnly grant "Admin" access to users who absolutely need it. Use the "Technician" role for day-to-day monitoring tasks.
Device Hygiene
- •Regular PatchingEnsure your devices are set to automatically install critical security updates. PeakDesk's compliance monitoring will alert you if a device falls behind.
- •Remove Unused SoftwareReduce your attack surface by uninstalling applications that are no longer needed.
Operational Security
Review your audit logs regularly. PeakDesk logs all critical actions, including:
- User logins and failed attempts
- Device additions and removals
- Remote command executions
- Changes to organization settings
